The Bellevue Voice #6: Final vote on Middle Housing coming next week
Last week, the Bellevue City Council voted on which direction they would be crafting their middle housing ordinance. That draft has been created, and the final vote is now scheduled for this coming Tuesday.
At last Tuesday’s meeting, several neighborhood leaders delivered powerful public comments urging the Council to:
- Stand firm on the reductions in neighborhood density already decided
- Go further in rightsizing the ordinance to ensure a balanced and responsible outcome
Residents also raised thoughtful points about:
- The importance of protecting Bellevue’s tree canopy
- The value of multi-generational, child-safe, community-focused single-family neighborhoods
- The growing concern that dormitory-style co-living will follow zoning changes currently under review
Thank you to everyone who took the time to speak or write to Council. Your voice has made a difference, and the outcome from the meeting this Tuesday will show us whether we’ve been heard.
With the final vote coming up, please continue contacting the Council at council@bellevuewa.gov and ask them to support a middle housing ordinance that values and protects our neighborhoods.
